Recipes from Dinners on a Dime

SOFT WHOLE-WHEAT BREADSTICKS
1 TBS yeast                                             ½ cup butter
2 TBS sugar                                             Garlic salt
1 tsp salt                                             Italian seasoning
3 ½ C Whole wheat flour                           Parmesan cheese
1 ½ C hot water
Sift first 3 dry ingredients with 2 cups of the flour. Add hot water and beat until well blended. Mix in remaining flour. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise app 15 minutes. Knead about 5 minutes and then Spread dough evenly on a greased sheet-cake pan. Using a cookie cutter, cut lengthwise down the center and then crosswise every 2 inches to make breadsticks.  Brush melted butter over tops. Sprinkle with garlic salt, Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese as desired. Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  
APPLE CRISP

2 C Dried apples                           1 cup water
½ C sugar                                     1 tsp vanilla
1 TBS lemon juice of ½ tsp citric acid
Simmer until apples are tender. Spread Cooked apple mixture in an 8 x 10 pan.
Mix together
  1 cup brown sugar                   1 tsp cinnamon                 
  1 cup rolled oats                             1/2 cup butter, room temperature
Put over apples. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes


WHIPPED TOPPING

Pour 1 cup of canned milk in a mixing bowl. Chill in freezer until ice crystals form.  Beat until firm peaks form. Add 2 TBS sugar and 1 tsp vanilla. Serve right away as a dessert topping
